There’s a rhythm to how a painting comes together. There’s a rhythm to how a painting comes together.

In the studio, I’m listening more than thinking. I follow where the paint wants to go, trusting the gestures, the surprises, and the tiny decisions that add up over time.

It’s not about perfection - it’s about presence, intuition, and delighting in what happens along the way.

Here are a few recent studio moments. Messy hands, layered marks, and that sweet point where a piece starts to feel alive.

I’m incredibly grateful to @onceatreefurniture for supporting my practice over the years, for living with my paintings, and helping them find the spaces where they truly belong. Seeing my work held so beautifully in their showroom never gets old!

If you’re nearby, I encourage you to visit them in person. Their space is warm, considered, and filled with pieces (art and furniture alike) that are meant to be lived with.

More gratitude to come, I’m looking forward to highlighting the spaces that help my work travel out into the world.

"Writing/Rewriting" is a series born from If I Wer "Writing/Rewriting" is a series born from If I Were a Musician - moving from classical to jazz, from delicate gestures to bold, expressive marks.

Across its variations (01–08), each work on paper explores the materiality of paint, the rhythm of spontaneous mark-making, and the iterative process - layering, repeating, rewriting.

Acrylic and ink on Stonehenge paper, each piece invites you to look closer, go deeper, and discover something new with every pass.

Swipe through some close ups of the series to see how each variation plays with colour, gesture, and movement.

"If I Were a Musician" began as a quiet curiosity "If I Were a Musician" began as a quiet curiosity and slowly grew into a long-running body of work.

Inspired by classical music, these works on paper are my way of letting notes and moods move visually across the page. The series started one summer when I fell in love with working on paper and found myself listening to CBC Radio 2 - letting the music guide the rhythm of the marks.

This is how I translate sound into form.

The white paper pieces feel like an afternoon recital - light and open - while the black series, with golds and ink on black, is more like an evening at the symphony.

Dressed up, a little romantic, and full of atmosphere.

Sharing several variations from the series here - each one its own movement.

Kicking off the new year by slowing things down. Kicking off the new year by slowing things down.

The last few weeks have been about taking it all in: empty pages, familiar views, time in the studio, wandering Granville Island. Letting the year just passed settle before rushing into the next one.

I’m giving myself the space to recalibrate, to listen, and to notice what wants to emerge. No pressure. Just paying attention, and letting inspiration find its way back in.
